BIG TEN PLAYER OF THE WEEK

After sitting out last season recovering from Tommy John surgery, McMahon started two of three games in Texas and produced a .500 batting average and an on-base percentage of .571 while throwing out three potential base stealers in the finale against Kansas State. The junior catcher was successful in three of six trips to the plate while adding a walk, but his performance behind the plate was more impressive. With one run already in to tie the score at 1-1 in the second inning, KSU had runners on first and second with no outs.  McMahon threw out the player trying to steal third base and after a fly ball, threw out another player trying to steal second base to end the inning. The NU backstop threw out another potential thief the following inning to record three assists and 12 putouts in the game.

BIG TEN PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Craig Clark, Penn State
SO, LHP, Phoenixville, PA/Spring-Ford
Clark struck out four batters in four innings to keep Penn State in the game before the Nittany Lions fell to Charlotte in their season opener. Entering the game with a 5-0 deficit and runners on first and third, the sophomore lefthander retired the final batter of the fourth inning and went on to strikeout four batters and pick off a runner. Clark allowed just one run in his four innings of work as Penn State narrowed the score to 6-3 before falling short.
