BIG TEN CO-PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Jay Brant, Indiana
JR, 2B, Indianapolis, Ind./Brebeuf Jesuit

Brant batted an astounding .800 in four games last week, recording 12 hits in 15 at bats while scoring nine runs to lead the Hoosiers to three wins in four games and share Big Ten Player of the Week laurels. The junior second baseman also drove in five runs and stole three bases while posting a slugging percentage of 1.133. He was a perfect five-for-five at the plate against Bucknell and ended the week with a four-for-five effort against Yale.

Andy Cox, Iowa
SR, 3B/1B, Scottsdale, Ariz./Horizon

Cox blasted four home runs and batted .667 (8-for-12) during a 3-0 week, driving in six runs and scoring six runs to split the Big Ten Player of the Week award. The senior recorded a slugging percentage of 1.667 on the week and produced at least one homer, run and RBI in every contest. After going deep against both Toledo and Rider, Cox concluded his weekend with two more long balls against Rider to produce three runs and three RBI

BIG TEN PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Jim Brauer, Michigan
SR, RHP, Carmel, Ind./Carmel

Brauer fanned a season-high nine batters against only one walk to pick up a victory over Lamar and collect Big Ten Pitcher of the Week accolades. The senior righthander allowed only five hits and one run in seven innings on the mound and improved to 2-0 this season. He currently ranks second in the League with 20 strikeouts in only 18 innings pitched as he is the first Wolverine hurler to pick up a weekly Conference award this season.
