BIG TEN PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Matt Butler, Michigan
SR, OF, Lombard, Ill./Driscoll Catholic

Butler batted a sizzling .688 (11-for-16) in a four-game sweep of Oakland to become the first Conference player to earn Big Ten Player of the Week honors twice this season. The senior co-captain recorded three hits in each of the final three games of the series and reached base 13 times for an on-base percentage of .722. He also drove in five runs and scored three times. Butler, who also picked up League weekly honors on March 7, currently leads the Big Ten in hits (34), doubles (10) and total bases (57) while ranking among the top five in batting average (4th at .436), runs scored (3rd with 22) and RBI (4th with 21).

BIG TEN CO-PITCHERS OF THE WEEK

Matt Loberg, Minnesota
SR, RHP, Anoka, Minn./Anoka

Loberg pitched eight shutout innings and struck out a career-high nine batters against Butler to become the first Gopher to collect Big Ten Pitcher of the Week laurels this year. The senior righthander allowed only one walk and gave up just four hits in picking up his third win.

Alan Stidfole, Penn State
JR, LHP, New Bloomfield, Pa./Susquenita

Stidfole struck out a career-best 10 batters in 6.1 scoreless innings to lead Penn State to a 1-0 victory at James Madison and earn a share of Pitcher of the Week accolades. The junior lefty allowed only three hits and two walks in the game and joined teammate Craig Clark (February 22) as the second PSU hurler to pick up the weekly award this season.
