BIG TEN CO-PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

Sean Walker, Michigan State
SO, C/1B, Round Lake, Ill./Carmel

Walker connected on three home runs, drove in eight runs and scored five times to lead the Spartans to a 3-1 series victory on the road at Ohio State and earn a share of Big Ten Player of the Week laurels. The sophomore catcher/first baseman produced an imposing slugging percentage of 1.077 in the series while batting .385 (5-of-13), as Michigan State became just the second Conference team to earn a series win at Bill Davis Stadium in its nine-year history. Walker connected on his first long ball of the series in the game two win and added five RBI and two more homers, including a game-tying grand slam in the ninth inning, in the series finale. He is the first Spartan to pick up Conference Player of the Week honors this season.

Andy Hunter, Minnesota
JR, 1B, West St. Paul, Minn./Sibley
Hunter batted a sizzling .600 (9-of-15) and drove in four runs on the road at Penn State to lead the Gophers to a series split and share Big Ten Player of the Week honors. The junior first baseman batted .636 (7-of-11) in the final three games, two of which were Minnesota triumphs, including a three-of-four performance with two RBI in the series finale. Hunter is the first Golden Gopher to collect League weekly laurels in the 2005 campaign.

BIG TEN PITCHER OF THE WEEK

Tim Day, Michigan State
JR, RHP, West Chester, Ohio/Lakota East
Day sparked the Spartans to a series victory at Ohio State by tossing a complete-game shutout in the series opener to earn Big Ten Pitcher of the Week accolades. The junior righthander scattered eight hits and struck out five batters with only one walk. Day picked up his second complete-game victory in Big Ten play this season and his first complete-game shutout since the 2002 campaign, as he now ranks sixth in school annals with 18 wins. He joins Walker as the first MSU standouts to collect a League weekly honor in 2005.
