Simmons completed a perfect regular season last Thursday, as he defeated No. 2 Sam Hazewinkel of Oklahoma in a battle of unbeatens.  The Spartan junior, who had not defeated Hazewinkel in four previous tries, beat the two-time All-American, 4-2, to improve to 29-0 on the year and finish the dual-meet season, 14-0. Hazewinkel had previously defeated Simmons in each of the past two NWCA All-Star Classics, as well as in the NCAA consolation finals last season, and in the Spartans and Sooners dual meet on Feb. 25, 2005.

This is Simmons' second weekly honor of the season, as he shared the first award of the year with Purdue's Ben Wissel on Nov. 9.
