Joe Dubuque, Indiana
JR, 125, Bloomfield, N.J./Glen Ridge

All-American Joe Dubuque improved to 8-1 on the season as he won all four of his matches over the past week, while earning bonus points in each of them.  On December 19, Dubuque helped Indiana to two dual wins as he recorded a pair technical falls over Jon Neal of Gardner-Webb, 19-2, and Rob Carlyle of Cumberland, 16-0.  On December 21, the Hoosiers traveled to Kent State where ninth-ranked Dubuque squared off in the featured match of the dual against 19th-ranked Drew Opfer.  The IU junior proved to be too much for Opfer as he scored a major decision victory, 12-3, to give IU the match at 23-13.  Dubuque started off the James Madison dual with his fifth straight bonus point victory, pinning Marshall Sweet at the 1:35 mark in the first period.  The Hoosiers would go on to claim a 39-4 win over James Madison.

Dubuque earns his first Big Ten Wrestler of the Week honor of his career and he is the first Hoosier to capture the weekly accolade since Coyte Cooper on December 23, 2002.

This is the final Big Ten Wrestling weekly release of 2004.  The next weekly release and Wrestler of the Week award will be on Wednesday, January 5.

Happy Holidays!
