Ann Arbor, Mich. - As the third round of the Big Ten Women's Golf Championships progressed, the temperatures fell as Ohio State's lead grew.  Having started the day nine shots up on the field, considering the deteriorating weather conditions the Buckeyes' third-round score of +19 is even more impressive.  Buckeye Senior Kristen White retained her tournament lead after a +4, 76-stroke performance.  She is one of four Scarlet and Gray golfers at the top of the leaderboard.  Michigan State's Heather Rose and Purdue's Onnarin Sattayabanphot sit tied for fourth with a three-round score of +6.

Due to the threat of inclement weather, the third round of the 2005 Big Ten Women's Golf Championships was changed to a shotgun format, with players starting on every hole.

The Ohio State contingent rose to the top during the third round.  With White in first, Senior Lindsey Knowlton shot a five-over and finished the day in second-place, and junior Jennifer Selfinger shot 78 to move into third.  Michigan State's Rose and Prudue's Sattayabanphot were tied for fourth with Ohio State's Dana Je who recorded a four-over 76.  Northwestern's Alice Kim had the best round on Saturday with a two-over 74.  Despite the wintery mix that fell on the University of Michigan Golf Course, there was some extraordinary golf played during the third round.  White's 76-stroke round was highlighted by an eagle on the par four 10th hole.

The Buckeyes improved upon their 19-stroke lead by shooting a 307, the best score of the day by 12 shots.  After being tied for fifth after the championship's first round, the host Michigan Wolverines have recorded the second best score for the last two rounds to overtake Michigan State for the championship's second-place position.  Their 319 put them one stroke over the Spartans who finished the third round at +69 for the championship.  Purdue, who was tied with U-M for third heading into the day, dropped a spot into fourth after a 325 shot performance.  The Northwestern Wildcats held onto their fifth place spot, sitting at +80 through three rounds.

With snow accumulation expected for Sunday, the fourth round will begin at 9:30 am in a shotgun start format.  With the potential for accumulation, if play does not begin on Sunday morning, the 54-hole results would stand.
