Ohio State's Gordon and Wisconsin's Shaw Share Volleyball Player of the Week Honors

Stacey Gordon, Ohio State Gordon averaged 8.17 kills per game and hit .391 for the weekend as No. 7 Ohio State earned its first back-to-back sweeps in Conference play this season with 3-0 wins over Purdue and Indiana. Gordon's 8.17 mark is her best two-match weekend set in the Big Ten with her previous best being 8.00 (56 kills, 7 games) against Michigan State and Michigan. The senior outside hitter tallied an impressive 9.67 kills per game (29 kills, 3 games) against Purdue. She recorded 10 digs in each match this weekend as well. Gordon also moved up the ranks in the OSU history books as well this weekend. Her solo block against Indiana moved her into a tie for 16th in Buckeye career solos with 33 and her three total blocks gave her 209 for her career and moved her to 18th on the OSU career blocks list. Gordon, who has registered double-figure kills in her last 98 matches, has earns her fourth Player of the Week honor of the season and the 15th of her career. Sheila Shaw, Wisconsin Shaw becomes the second Badger in as many weeks to share Player of the Week honors as teammate Jackie Simpson earned recognition last week. Shaw tied her career high with 24 kills while helping lead the Badgers to a 3-2 win over No. 2 Minnesota. She had five kills in the decisive game five and hit .500 for that period. The 6-1 middle blocker also led the Badgers with five assists and added one service ace and two digs to her totals while hitting .370 against the Gophers. In a 3-0 win against Iowa, Shaw put down 10 kills, hit .316 and added three digs and two blocks. On the weekend, Shaw led Wisconsin with 4.25 kills per game, while hitting at a .354 clip. This is the first career Player of the Week award for Shaw.
